  1. US Statistics: In 2021, approximately 27.6 million people were in forced labor. Of these, “17.3 million are exploited in the private sector, 6.3 million in forced commercial sexual exploitation, and 3.9 million in forced labour imposed by state.” according to the human trafficking hotline.
  2. Global Scale: The International Labor Organization (ILO) estimates that there are 40.3 million victims of human trafficking globally, with hundreds of thousands in the United States. The U.S. Department of Justice reportedly provided services to 8,375 human trafficking survivors between 2017 and 2018.
  3. Gender: According to the ILO, 75% of trafficking victims are women and girls, and 25% are children.
  4. Forced Labor and Sex Trafficking: An estimated 24.9 million people are trapped in forced labor, of which 16 million are exploited in the private sector such as domestic work, construction, or agriculture. 4.8 million individuals are victims of forced sexual exploitation.
